Vietnam War-
This war was long and costly, this was a war with communist regime of North Vietnam and Southern Allies, against the South Vietnam and its ally the US. Conflict in the region started in the 1940’s but not until 14 days later did the war begin in 1954. This began at Ho Chi Minh’s rise to power and this war continued till the backdrop of the Cold War, half of which were Vietnamese civilians and only 58,000 Americans. By 1969 when US involvement in the war was high, 5000,000 US military personell was involved in this conflict. President Nixon wanted to deflate the anti-war movement, and in attempt of limiting the volume of American casualties, he announced he was withdrawling troops. The legacy of the Vietnam war left behind an estimated 2 million Vietnamese dead, 3 million wounded, and 12 million as refugees. War corrupted country’s economy and infastructure, and reconstruction continued slowly. The US spent $120 billlion on this conflict in Vietnam from 1965-73. This amount of money spent led to inflation, and caused a worldwide oil crisis in 1973. Not only economically but psychologically effected so many US soldiers who served.
