Marshall Plan
Marshall Plan-
June 4th 1947, George C. Marshall- secretary of state, gave a speech where he announced US was willing to offer economic assistance to the nations in Europe left in destruction, rubbish, and remains to help those nations recover. This is now called the Marshall Plan. This plan eventually provided billions of dollars to the European Nations. The foreign minister, Molotov met June 27 with British and French counterparts to talk about European reaction to Americas offer. Molotov made soviet objections clear; Economic help to Germany, Russia did not want to tolerate the aid because they had so recently devastated the soviets. Also he wanted to assure Soviets complete demand on Marshall Plan funds that Germany May receive and he wanted to know how much money the US would supply to each nation. When the French and British did not seem to have the same objections, Molotov marched out of the meeting on July 2nd. The Soviets were ignored and Marshall Plan was set into action in 1948.
