Cuban Missile Crisis-
The spy, Francis Gary Powers, from the U-2 incident photographed a soviet SS-4 medium-range ballistic missile being assembled for installation. President Kennedy formed together what was called the “ex com” team- (executive committee). The Soviet leader, Nikita Khrushchev gambled on sending missiles to Cuba to increase his nations nuclear strike capability. They thought by using the missiles, nations would see them as a threat. Also with having attacked Cuba in the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 Castro and Khrushchev saw this a highly aggressive act.
